There are several language playgroups registered with ACT Playgroups. Many are happy for non native speaking members to join provided you and your child participate in learning the language. Please contact the individual group to find out more information on how the group runs, and what is expected as a playgroup member in regards to language ability.

Spiel und Spass (German) Playgroup meets every Wednesday morning during school terms at the Scout Hall at 5 Masson Street, Turner. Spiel und Spass playgroup is a great way to expand use of your home language or expose your child to a second language. Many of their members go on to attend the German-Australian Playschool (for 3-5 year olds) where their language skills are further developed. Contact spielwelt@homemail.com.au for more information.

Mandarin for Fun learning group is open to people from any background, as they are aiming at teaching both children (from 18 months – 5 years) and carers so that they can both go back home and practice. They use different fun ways to teach so that everyone is learning without knowing. They hope this program will help the children to build up a solid Mandarin language foundation and keep their interest up for further second language development.
There are currently several programs running in the Belconnen area. A small fee applies. Booking is essential as numbers are limited. Please register your interest through mandarinforfun@gmail.com or you can also phone Lucia on 0410 981 788.
