ACT Playgroups have been running early support playgroups in the Canberra
area for over ten years under the MyTime and PlayConnect banners. Each
playgroup is run by qualified staff with support from local therapy based
Our early support playgroups are for children aged birth – 5 years. They are free, fun, interactive, evidence based and accessible to all family members, including siblings and carers, are encouraged to attend.
Early support playgroups address the unique needs of each individual child as well as providing parents with the tools and strategies to help their child reach their full potential.
These playgroups provide activities and experiences that are play-based to encourage children’s development and build on existing skills. Adult participation is important and also fun, providing new ideas to try at home. Attending these groups also enables peer and parenting support for the adults whilst creating a safe, supported environment for children to learn and practice social skills.
The playgroups run for two hours most mornings in various
locations around Canberra.
MyTime playgroups are for children with additional needs, or chronic illness. Children in our MyTime groups have been diagnosed with genetic disorders, hearing loss, speech delay, impaired mobility, developmental delay, and a variety of undiagnosed additional needs.
PlayConnect playgroups are for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), or ASD type symptoms. No diagnosis is required to attend these playgroups.
A plan or referral is NOT required to attend the early support playgroups.
These playgroups run independently to the NDIS.
